A high-risk situation is something that happens that makes a person want to use alcohol or other drugs after making a commitment not to use. A person does not get into high-risk situations by accident, but sets oneself up to get drawn into them. Some people call it Building Up to Drink and Drug (BUDD). Others call it going SOUR (Setting Ourselves Up to Relapse). This pamphlet lists how a person can get into high-risk situations that lead to relapse. Incarcerated offenders at California State Prison, Solano, helped develop this list.
